Wine lingo can be intimidating, elitist and generally off-putting, which is a shame because we’re talking about alcohol, not brain surgery.
Initially intimidated by the language of wine, I educated myself and then proceeded to throw around words I had a loose understanding of. It was like trying to use high school French in a Paris cafe: hard to communicate and easily embarrassing. But I learned that once you have clarity on a few key wine words, you can describe your likes and dislikes, which is really all you’re trying to do.
