Great news, everyone. Travel & Leisure magazine has taken on the challenge of pairing Halloween candy with wine. This could be super helpful come Saturday night.
The only drawback is that their bottle recommendations tend to be on the pricey side. I don’t know about you, but I am not going to be swilling $65 bottles of wine in the midst of the trick-or-treating chaos. But the good news is that T&L makes recommendations on both wine types and specific bottles. So all you need to do is take this handy guide into the store and find more affordable options.
Here are a few substitutes I would suggest. Instead of the Bordeaux Chateau de Fieuzal 2010 ($65) to go with your Hershey’s dark chocolate, try the Chateau de Grand Bos 2005 Graves (Bordeaux, $30). Or if you are more of a Milk Duds person, instead of the recommended Cobos Marchiori Bramare Mendoza ($50), try a bottle of Catena Malbec, which retails for about $21, or St. Somewhere Malbec, a Trader Joe’s special at $9.99.
Happy Halloween!
